MUSIC LESSON FAQS
How much do private lessons cost?
A: Private lessons are $36.00 per 30 minute lesson (effective 9/1/2015), regardless of instrument, with an initial enrollment fee of $25.00.
What is the best age to begin private lessons?
A: Generally, we prefer for our private students to at least be 5 years old AND have experience being in a structured school environment . If you feel your mature 4-year-old is ready for lessons, most of our faculty is willing to do a trial lesson to see if your child is ready. We also may offer other programs for younger students which may be more appropriate. Students can NEVER be too old for lessons!! We welcome adults and seniors to take lessons as well!
What instruments are offered at music Makers?
A: We offer lessons in the following instruments: Piano, Voice, Drums, Brass, Woodwinds, Strings, Upright Bass, Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Ukulele.
How is billing handled?
A: All families are conveniently debited via a credit/debit card or checking account on the FIRST of each month for that month's lesson charges. Tuition generally averages $144.00 per month. Should there be more or fewer than four weeks on your scheduled lesson day in a particular month, you will be manually either debited or credited somewhere in the middle of the month to reflect the number of weeks of lessons for that month. Books and supplies charges are also usually adjusted to your account in the middle of the month.
Is there an enrollment fee?
A: There is a one-time enrollment fee of $25.00 for new students. You would also be charged for any books/supplies associated with your lessons. You will not incur any other enrollment fees while enrolled. Should you discontinue lessons, there is a $25.00 re-enrollment fee.
WHen are lessons offered?
A: Music Makers is generally open year-round: 3:00pm - 8:30pm. Some teachers have a more extensive schedule. We are now offering lessons on Saturdays in addition to our weekday schedule! Please call for details. Our summer hours usually vary based on both our faculty and student's schedules.
how long is a typical lesson?
A: Our standard lesson length is 30 minutes, but we also offer 45-minute and 60-minute lessons for more advanced students!
What happens if i miss a lesson?
A: Excellent question! Music Makers offers MAKEUP classes in the event that you have to miss a lesson or are going on vacation. Please see our MAKEUP LESSON SCHEDULE page for more details. We do ask that you please call the office when you know you will have to miss a lesson.
would i have to sign a contract to begin lessons?
A: No. None of our families are under any contract. You DO sign an agreement for the automatic withdrawal to pay for the lessons. You are not held to any long-term commitments, only a month-to-month one. Our policy is that if you intend to STOP lessons, that we be notified NO LATER than the 15th of the month PRIOR to the month you want to discontinue lessons. For example, please notify us by DECEMBER 15th to stop on JANUARY 1st. This is for two reasons: 1) It allows us 2 weeks to try and fill your slot for our teachers and prevent loss of income. 2) It gives our business office the opportunity to stop your auto-debit before the 1st of the next month. Since lessons are pre-paid for the month, you would just finish out the month you discontinue lessons in. We do not prorate the last month of lessons, whether or not you show up for your lessons.
Does music makers offer instrument rentals?
A: Absolutely!! Music Makers is able to rent you a guitar for $25.00 per month. We are also able to rent keyboards, guitars and violins at the same $25.00 rental price OR at a competitive fee for you to purchase. All other band instruments are rentable through a local business nearby. We even offer a rent-to own program. Please note that you must notify the office if you wish to participate in the rent-to-own program. It is NOT an automatic program. Please call us for details. If discontinuing lessons, the rental must be turned in at the last lesson to avoid incurring additional rental fees/charges.
Are there trial lessons available?
A: Yes! You are allowed 1-2 trial lessons AT THE REGULAR LESSON PRICE of $36.00/30 minute lesson. You will not be charged the enrollment fee of $25.00 until you have had your trial lessons and decide to sign up. A credit/debit card is required to secure the trial lesson time. You will be charged the day of the trial lesson. There are no refunds for trial lessons or no-show trial lessons. PLEASE CALL AHEAD IF YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR TRIAL APPOINTMENT!!!
Could i take a lesson every other week?
A: We generally do not offer this service, as it is very difficult to find another student willing to also do an every other week lesson on the weeks opposite of you.
