POLICIES & PROCEDURES
All payments are processed by pre-authorized credit cards or auto-drafted from checking accounts on the first of each month. Private lessons (currently $37 per 30-minute lesson) are calculated by the number of weeks in the month. Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons (see ‘Cancellations and Make-Ups'). Tuition does not include teaching materials such as books or instruments, nor does it include additional supplies such as metronomes, strings, etc.
2. CANCELLATIONS AND MAKE-UPS
For any lessons that a TEACHER needs to miss, MMWS will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If no substitute teacher is available, a private make-up lesson will be scheduled with the student’s regular teacher. If there is a conflict in scheduling a make-up for a teacher’s missed lesson, then the teacher will ask the office to issue a credit.
For any lessons that a STUDENT needs to miss, MMWS will hold one-hour group make-up lessons. These lessons are usually grouped by age and/or level and are held at different times throughout each month. Students may sign up for multiple classes as needed. To sign up for a make-up lesson, contact the office (not your instructor) for an available date and time. PLEASE NOTE: MMWS does NOT issue credits for missed lessons for ANY reason as students always have the option of attending group make-up lessons (see 'Refund Policy').
Please see our MAKE UP LESSON SCHEDULE page for more information).
3. WITHDRAWING FROM LESSONS
Every student at MMWS is on a month-to-month schedule. To discontinue lessons and stop charges from being applied to your account you must provide written notification before the 15th of your last month by filling out a Withdrawal Form in the office. You may also download the one provided below. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons. If you are renting an instrument from us, you must return the instrument by the 30th of the month or at your last lesson to not be charged the following month. (Please see our INSTRUMENT RENTAL AGREEMENT page).
4. AVERAGE OF FOUR LESSONS PER MONTH
MMWS operates year-round and is only closed for major holidays and for two weeks over Christmas and New Year’s. In long months you may get five lessons; in short months you may get three lessons; but most months you will get four lessons. If you see a difference in your charge when the auto-bill is processed on the first of each month it will typically be due to the number of weeks in the month or additional charges for books/supplies.
5. SUMMER VACATION
MMWS operates year-round and does not close for the summer. We are happy to offer unlimited group make-ups for our students. If you are taking a month off for vacation and want to resume the next month, your payment will still be due on the first of the month if you wish to reserve your lesson slot. The lessons that you miss can be made up either before you leave for or when you return from vacation.
6. CARE OF STUDENTS
MMWS is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. Parents with children under the age of eight must remain in the designated area during the classes. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive periods of time before or after their lessons.
7. OPEN DOOR POLICY
Per our Open Door Policy parents are always allowed to sit in on their student’s lessons.
Parents, legal guardians of minors, students, and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on school property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students or their siblings before, during, or after lesson time, including hearing loss or hearing damage. MMWS is not responsible for any damage done to vehicles or items stolen from vehicles.
9. PICKING UP
Students should wait for their parents to pick them up inside the Grand Avenue School building. MMWS assumes no responsibility for children who leave unaccompanied.
10. ENROLLMENT FEE
All new families are charged a one-time enrollment fee of $25 per student. Any student who withdraws from lessons for an extended period of time (usually greater than 3 months) may be subject to a re-enrollment fee of $25 upon returning to lessons. There is no enrollment fee for group classes or camps.
