Jeff Kimmel (Clarinet, Saxophone, Piano)
Teaches private lessons on Tuesdays & Wednesdays

"As a teacher, my aim is to help students see the strength within themselves by using the learning of music as a means of self-discovery. Lessons incorporate listening, technique building, theory, ear training, duets, and improvisation to develop deeper understanding and mastery. Musical material becomes a jumping off point for creative expression and interpretation."

Jeff Kimmel is a Chicago-based clarinetist, improviser, and composer.  Originally from Greenville, SC, he moved to Boston to attend the New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied improvisation and composition. Since relocating to Chicago in 2007, he has become an active part of the city's vibrant creative music community.

Currently, Jeff performs regularly with a diverse array of ensembles, including ragtime with The Great Crush, notated experimental music with a.per.i.od.ic ensemble, and maintains regular collaborations with local improvisers. He has been featured on several recordings with groups that emphasize the cultivation of long-standing musical relationships. In 2011, he released a CD of his original quartet music, Charm Offensive, to critical acclaim. His work has been funded twice by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and in the fall of 2011, he was selected to attend a residency at the Atlantic Center for the Arts.
