Megan Yeung (Violin & Viola)
Teaches private lessons on Saturdays

"The primary objective in my teaching philosophy is for my students to be able to learn the joy of making music, while also building a foundation of a tireless work ethic required of a musician from a young age. I find it most important to emphasize instilling proper technique in my students while they are still young beginners using different systems of scales and etudes. My students also learn a vast variety of repertoire chosen with guidance from the Suzuki books and ABRSM exams. These pieces teach students new technique, musicality, and unique styles of music according to different time periods."

“Megan Yeung began her musical studies in Hong Kong at the age of three, studying the violin with Mr. Ping Wing Chan of the Hong Kong Philharmonic. She was introduced to the viola in the fourth grade, and has since fallen in love with the rich, warm sound of the instrument. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music Performance degree, studying with renowned pedagogues Almita and Roland Vamos.
Megan performed with the Libertyville String Quartet as their violinist and violist for four years. She also taught violin and viola for two years at Bravo Waukegan and continues to maintain a small private studio of students. She has been accepted to study at music festivals such as: Tanglewood Institute at Boston University, Chautauqua Music Festival, and Philadelphia International Music House Festival. She has also had the opportunity as a soloist and orchestral musician to work with cellist Yo Yo Ma, composer Bryce Dessner, and San Francisco Symphony’s principal violist Jonathan Vinocour.”
